Roca’s 4th Annual Breakfast—June 16, 2009
We are called to find real change in society. We are determined to bring people together in a different way, to try something new in order to end the cycle of youth violence.
Joined in a peace circle by Molly Baldwin, Roca’s Executive Director, Carcross Tagish Tlingit Chief Mark Wedge and Roca’s young people, this circle inspired all who listen to tell the truth, talk about hard issues, and be bold enough to try new ideas.
The following circle partipants are local leaders who have committed themselves over time to furthering social justice, tolerance and opportunities for all those living in poverty and violence:
• Kip Tiernan, Founder of Rosie’s Place
• Louis Casagrande, President and CEO of the
Boston Children’s Museum
• Greg Torres, President and CEO of MassInc.
• Steve Grossman, President and CEO of
Grossman Marketing Group
• Rose Medina, Detective, Chelsea Police Department
• The Honorable Luis Perez, MA Juvenile Court
• Mark Conrad, Chair of the MA State Parole Board
Note from Molly Bladwin, Executive Director of Roca
Hello!
In these difficult times, the challenge is to stay focused on what we are doing and how we do it. No easy task these days. We are most fortunate that Wendy Wheeler of the Innovation Center for Community and Youth Development knows us well and periodically does some writing about the organization. She is trying to help us capture “how we do out work.” She wrote this short piece on a conversation she had with Roca Deputy Director Anisha Chablani as a blog on her website. I thought you might find it interesting. Thank you for your support and interest in Roca.
Respectfully,
Molly Baldwin
